A couple that lives in an HOA, is suing because they don't feel their HOA did enough to protect them. Several armed men broke into homes, tied up their victims and stole personal items. Even after knowing this was happening in their neighborhood, the association did nothing to increase security and attempt to protect other homeowners.
Canyon Lake Property Owners Association leases the use of Canyon Lake. The water district that owns the lake says the association is in default on its lease payment that was due March 15. Attorneys are warning that if the payment is not made, the lease could be terminated and the lake could be shut down to association members.
Dog waste has become a health concern on the property of a condominium building, but also in the hallways, lobbies and garages. The association has notified residents that they must register their dogs and provide swabs of their dogs' DNA. Any waste found will be linked to the owner and they will be fined $600.
Police are wanting a mandatory crime free program as a crime prevention tool. The program is designed to reduce crime, drugs and gangs at apartment properties. They are wanting to require landlords, property managers and association boards to participate.
Lawmakers are looking to change the Nevada HOA laws. Many homeowners want to install rollers at the top of their fences to keep coyotes out of their yards. Many pets have been lost from coyote attacks, but homeowner associations want to continue to control their design guidelines and not allow the rollers to be installed.
The investigation into the largest homeowners association scheme has resulted in many facing prison terms and the death of two attorneys. It has most recently found four participants guilty of conspiracy and wire fraud.
