You need to look beyond the 15% tax savings of Form 1120, and consider the tax risks that exist. Strict compliance with tax law is difficult, and a single mistake can be fatal. Our Tax Manager, Gary Porter, CPA has directly conducted or been consulted on dozens of IRS tax audits for associations, ALL on Form 1120. The IRS generally does not bother to perform audits on Form 1120-H tax returns, as they know they cannot generate any significant tax assessments.
