~~In the state of CA insurance is alewold to collect any and all fees they paid on your injury that resulted in a settlement, because it was the at fault parties, and they reserve the right to be refunded when an insured person is paid for the medical costs. Then the providers who saw you will have to be paid out of that settlement as well. This is because the insures withdraws their payments, so they turn to you who received the settlement. They do not charge you the negotiated fee either, but the full cash price fee (because they negotiated the reduced rate for their members, but the at fault party is the responsible party now), so discount is removed. There are no laws, they are all entitled to 100 percent of the fees to be reimbursed from the settlement money. If you had an attorney then they should have resolved all parties payments before you received the final amount of the settlement. If you did this on your own, try and get each provider to reduce their rate on what you are going to owe (this is what an attorney does), and hopefully they will accept a discount in lieu of an immediate payment.Once the at fault party settles (accepting responsibility) then the amount of money which was applied to your deductible will also be removed.~~
